Background on us.. I started the process to adopt in May 2004. I decided that I had most aspects of my life in good order, had a house and stable job. But something was missing. No, not a husband, even though that was missing too, but a kid. I didn't want to wait until I was 45 and still not married and then adopt a child. Don't get me wrong, I do want to get married, but I wasn't going to put my dream of being a mom on hold while I waited for Prince Charming to show up. As momma always says "it has to be a pretty good man to be better than no man at all".
So I chose Kazakhstan and started the daunting paperwork process. Just over 1 year later and I traveled to Almaty to get my son. My mom traveled with me and we spent a crazy 52 days in Kaz.
We spent the first year of our life together in Phoenix, where I had lived for over 20 years. Then in June 2006 the whole family moved to Cleveland, OH. I have spent the last 2 1/2 years raising my son and his 2 cousins in Newbury, OH. I have a beautiful home with a great support system. In my home there are 7 of us. Me, Bo (4), Grandmommy, Papaw, Uncle Ben, Gwen (7) and Raina (5).
